Transfer sales data into the web application manually

Uploading sales data to your account in Future Demand is an important process in order for us to analyze, track, and manage your sales performance effectively.

This article is relevant for: FD Live Select

If we don't receive the sales data automatically (FD Live Professional) there is the possibility to upload the sales data manually (FD Live Select). Sales data is needed to use FD Live Attribution and for an accurate prediction in Lookout.

Please note:

The sales data must be uploaded at regular intervals, i.e. every week on Monday and/or Wednesday to ensure precise predictions in Lookout.

We need the sales data as accurate as possible 20 days before the campaign starts until the end of the campaign. The reason for that is how campaigns are evaluated. For further details you can check this article: How does the Future Demand attribution model work

Currently, there are three ways to transfer transaction data into the web application:

  • Manual Input

This method is recommended if you have only a few events or campaigns and want to transfer transaction data for longer periods. You can enter the accumulated values, such as the total number of tickets sold and the total revenue for the desired period. For example, if you transfer the transaction data for a month, the total data (number of tickets sold and revenue) will be distributed across the individual days randomly.

Although this method is possible for daily transaction transfers, it is less practical. You can manually enter the data day by day but must ensure no duplicate entries are made for the same day.

  • File Transfer

This method is ideal if you have the daily sales data for your events. You simply select the appropriate event and download an Excel template where you enter the sales data for each day.

By regularly transferring these daily sales data into the web application, you get very accurate data. This accuracy provides the best foundation for precise predictions in Lookout and enables a detailed evaluation of campaign results. Since the transaction data is recorded day by day, sales trends and developments can be tracked accurately.

  • Export/Import

This method is particularly suitable for institutions uploading sales for event series or a large number of events at once. The import and export feature allows you to transfer sales data for multiple events simultaneously in one step into the web application.

First, you export a file from the web application. Using the filter function, you can specify which events should be exported into the file—it is also possible to export all events at once. You can then enter the sales data for all selected events in this file: total sales and total revenue per event. A detailed breakdown by category (e.g., ticket types) is also possible.

If the time frames between updating sales is very long the evaluation will be not as accurate as if you update sales more often. If it is for example done just once every two weeks the tickets are automatically distributed over the period, an evaluation is possible and will give you an idea where you stand with your campaign but not as precise as with the daily sales data file transfer or if you update this every day. Nevertheless, this method provides an efficient way to process large amounts of data quite quickly.
